My bench recently arranged its AGM at a nearby Crown Court, in accordance with the sensible policy of using HMCTS property assets whenever possible.
Unfortunately the IT that we use to display documents and suchlike proved to be incompatible with the Crown Court kit. Surprised? Me neither.
Musings and Snippets from a recently retired JP. I served for 31 years, mostly in west London. I was Chairman of my Bench for some years, and a member of the National Bench Chairmen's Forum All cases are based on real ones, but anonymised and composited. All opinions are those of one or more individuals. JPs swear to enforce the law of the land, whether or not they approve of it. Nothing on here constitutes legal advice.
I recently went to a meeting of retired magistrates, among whom was one who had only retired a few days earlier. She was explaining how the electronic system was supposed to work (but doesn't). It sounds a complete shambles. Although I was devastated to have to retire, nothing would make me go back to that mess.
ReplyDeleteNo-one thought to try it beforehand (it's called "testing")?
ReplyDeletePerhaps the several hundred million pounds being poured into IT isn't enough!
