What a Nose

This article is about a Colombian dog  that is said to have helped to find 392 kg of cocaine last year. At the accepted London street value, that's worth about fifteen and a half million quid. I hope she got a nice bone.

  1. And there was I who thought "Give the dog a bone" was a party game!

  2. Not to be sniffed at. Glad she was called Mona - Charlie would have been too obvious. Anyone else remember singer Mike Absalom and his Seventies number "Hector the Dope Sniffing Hound"?

  3. Purely for my interest, could anyone at the Bystander Team explain their maths on this one?

I've never bought cocaine in London (or anywhere else) but thought from media reports it would cost about £50 a gram. Given this weight would be cut before being sold - presumably at least doubling the weight - wouldn't that make this worth more like £40 million? Or am I hopelessly out of touch with the London streets?

  4. There are lots of variables, but £40,000 a kilo is the rate usually quoted in court.
